Our technicians often find broken or damaged components when providing a filter cleaning service onsite. To ensure that you are aware of any necessary repairs, someone from our office will notify you about the component(s) needing replacement. Our techncian will leave the new parts in the equipment area for you to inspect. Any replaced parts that were left out will be collected during the next pool maintenance visit and disposed of properly. We are dedicated to ensuring that all repairs are professionally handled with minimal disruption to you.
Our technicians always strive to provide efficient and timely service, which is why they automatically replace broken or worn components when they find them. Suppose a customer does not wish for us to purchase a replacement component. In that case, we are more than happy to come back out and reinstall the original one. We believe that providing efficient services is key to our business, and we strive to ensure that every customer is satisfied with our work.
Below, we have outlined some commonly replaced components and the reasons for doing so.
Grids found with tears or holes will allow the filter media to pass through them, causing unclear water, dust, and debris blowback.
Two things can happen when the spines inside the grids start to break. First, broken spine pieces inside can pass through to the heater clogging the heat exchanger tubes and resulting in expensive repairs. Second, grids with broken spines have sharp edges that poke holes in the grid cloth and lead to blowback and filter media passing into the pool.
Once a filter manifold has developed a crack it will allow the filter media to pass through, causing unclear water, dust, and debris blowback.
The filter tank O-rings are incredibly susceptible to wear and tear, and can deteriorate for many reasons including flattening, tearing, stretching and brittleness due to exposure to chlorinated water. When an O-ring fails, it can result in a number of problems. During operation, leaking water can cause corrosion on the filter or other equipment over time. Conversely, when the filter is not running, air can be drawn in and cause dirty filter media to be recirculated into the pool – leading to a wide range of problems.
Common causes of failure of filter air relief valves can include a cracked or broken valve, blocked passages, frozen parts due to debris buildup, improper installation, and corroded/worn-out parts. Additionally, older models may fail simply from age or wear and tear. A leaking valve during operation causes corrosion on the filter or other equipment over time. Conversely, when the filter is not running, air can be drawn in and cause dirty filter media to be recirculated into the pool – leading to a wide range of problems. If the valve stops functioning the filter will be unable to purge the tank of air.
Pressure gauges may fail due to corrosion of small metal components within the valve mechanism, causing it to seize and break. This is a common occurrence that may be caused by prolonged exposure to water, minerals and other common maintenance chemicals.
